Volunteer Opportunities: Helping in Jesus' Name
Maui, Hawaii Fire Response
Assist homeowners affected by the fire in Lahaiana

Volunteers will be responsible for their own airfare to Maui. Each volunteer session is 1-2 weeks long, with arrivals only on Sundays or Wednesdays. Please do not book your plane ticket until you have been scheduled by a Volunteer Coordinator.

Housing will be in a tent with bunkbeds provided. Air conditioning is limited. Outdoor showers and portable bathrooms will be available. 

Location: Maui, HI

Project Description: Volunteers will assist homeowners affected by fires and will help in Jesus' Name with content retrieval. 

There will be opportunities for overnight volunteers.

Trip Dates for Overnight: Each volunteer session is 1-2 weeks long, with arrivals only on Sunday or Wednesday. We are not able to accommodate shorter trips due to the location of the site.  Trips will be scheduled for the following dates:

October 25 – November 1
October 29 – November 5
November 1 – November 8
November 5 – November 12
November 8 – November 15
November 12 – November 19
November 15- November 22
November 19 – November 26
November 22 - November 29
November 26 - December 3
November 29 - December 6
December 3 - December 10
December 6 - December 13
December 10 - December 17
December 13 - December 20

Maximum Team Size: Ten people. Both teams and individuals are welcome.

Transportation: Volunteers will need to schedule their flights into Kahului, HI. We will run shuttles each day to the location where volunteers will be staying.

Please do not book your plane ticket until you have been scheduled by a Volunteer Coordinator.

Minimum Age: Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age or older. Youth, ages 14-15, must be accompanied by their parent/legal guardian and youth, ages 16-17, must be accompanied by an adult chaperone unless the team is registered as a youth group. Youth groups may serve with Samaritan’s Purse and are required to complete a Youth Leader Covenant. Please read more information about our Youth Policy in the FAQ section.

Additional Information: Meals and sleeping quarters are provided for overnight volunteers. Volunteers need to bring towels and personal hygiene items, bed linens will be provided. Tools will be provided, and volunteers are welcome to bring their own tool belts and small hand tools. Volunteers should dress in lightweight pants and sturdy boots. Volunteers will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that includes a Tyvek suit and a P100 Respirator.
